Statement of Faith
First Baptist Church is an open conservative, evangelical fellowship of believers committed to:
1) The inspiration and sufficiency of the Scriptures in all matters of faith practice.
2) There in one God existing in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each of the three members of the
Godhead is co-equal and co-eternal with the other two.
3) The Deity of Jesus Christ. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins on the cross, was bodily resurrected from the dead, is our great High Priest at the Father's right hand, and will come again in God's own time to gather His people and consummate history.
4) Salvation by grace through faith apart from works of merit.
5) The Church, which is the Body of Christ, composed of all who savingly believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
6) Believer's baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper as a memorial of Christ's sufferings.
7) The reality of heaven and hell.
Our Church joins with over 45,000 other churches in support of over 5,000 foreign missionaries in 120 nations of the world, and 5,113 missionaries in North America in 50 states and in theProvidences of Canada. Also, our church equally supports Transformation Ministries formerly known as American Baptist Churches of the Pacific Southwest (ABCPSW).
Furthermore, our church involves itself in special mission efforts, and the last two years we have built four shelters for families in Mexico and paid for the materials and sent construction teams from our church to do the work.
In addition, our church has met special needs for 110 orphans in Djibouti, in the horn of Africa, providing over $5,000 worth of clothing and athletic equipment.
Further, our church has provided hospitality baskets for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House by the children’s hospital, which included generous financial support for the families.
And, we have generously supported Chuck and Earna Manton during their eight-year water-well-drilling mission in Kenya, Africa.
We have sent a Christmas gift giving offering to Mark and Alisha Steitz Hamblens in Ireland, and Jim and Alice Tucker in Yaounde, Cameroon.
We have missionaries that are in our church family and we support them continuously through prayer and financial aid: The Sackman’s in India, and Linda, a Wycliff Missionary in Asia.
First Baptist offers the following ministries for you to involve yourself in:
Our philosophy of ministry is reflected in our purpose to exalt the Lord as a church family. The concept of the priesthood of all believers is a foundational principle of our faith and practice. This conviction informs Christian ideals regarding salvation, soul competency, and Christian responsibility. For Christians, the priesthood of all believers involves two powerful truths. First, the doctrine means that all persons have direct access to God through faith in Jesus Christ without the need for any other human mediator. Second, it means that all Christians are called to be priests, ministering to one another and sharing the love of God in the world.
